A new monumental fountain designed for the waterfront of downtown Wilmington, NC. Designed to commemorate the annual spring Azalea Festival, the fountain is designed with four large, pre-patinaed copper leaves which fold down to "bloom" at the onset of the festival each year. At the festivals conclusion, the fountain is returned to its typical state. This piece is meant to exploit the "story" of the place and its culture, building anticipation and memory through an act of change.
